BLAH BLAH BLAH (George Gershwin (m) / Ira Gershwin (l) ) 1931 As sung by Sarah Vaughan (with the Don Costa Orchestra) Rereleased Jan 1997 [Snowbound/the Lonely Hours] Also preformed by: Chris Connor Lincoln Mayorga Jerri Winters Christine Ebersole El Brendel/Manya Roberti (in the film (below) ) I've written you a song A beautiful routine I hope you like it. My technique can't be wrong I learned it from the screen I hope you like it. I studied all that rhymes that all the lovers sing And just for you I wrote this little thing... Blah blah blah blah moon Blah blah blah above Blah blah blah blah croon Blah blah blah above. Tra la la la, tra la la la, la, merry month of May Tra la la la, tra la la la, la, 'neath a cloud of grey. Blah blah blah blah blah blah your hair Blah blah blah your eyes Blah blah blah blah care Bla blah blah blah skies. Tra la la la, tra la la la, la, cottage for two Blah blah blah blah blah blah darling with you. Blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah... (fade to end) Notes: This fun melody formed part of the film score of the B & W 1931 Fox Film 'Delicious', which was a romantic comedy. Historically speaking, this film was the first in which the brothers Gershwin were hired to compose the entire score. Director: David Butler Leads: Janet Gaynor / Charles Farrell / El Brendel / Raul Roulien Sarah Vaughn, an American jazz singer who performed professionally from 1945 to 1990, was nicknamed ‘Sassy’ because of her rather informal speech and manner. Many jazz buffs would argue that Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Sarah's voice were 'a wash'. She had superb range and power and could sing scat delightfully. Her ability to manipulate the listener's emotions with her dreamy voice brought her an avid following. The NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Jazz Masters bestowed it’s highest award on her in 1989. (Transcribed by David Story July 2014)
