Don't tell me that story,
I've heard it before.
Save all of those love songs
For one you adore!

I played Cinderella,
Lost my slipper at the ball,
And when it all was over,
It wasn't any ball at all, at all!

Don't read me that poetry,
Don't quote me that prose.
Save all of those stories
'Bout me and the rose.

But if you really mean them,
Come a little closer, then
Start right back from the beginning,
I want to hear them again!

I played Humpty Dumpty
Sat upon a garden wall,
And when it all was over
I didn't like that fall at all, at all!

Don't read me that poetry,
Don't quote me that prose.
Don't feed me those bromides
That everyone knows!

But if you really mean them,
