My Uncle `Enry's got a shop down the `Igh Street
With marble on the counter and a big glass door
My Uncle `Enry's very famous down the `Igh Street
So let me tell you what `e's very famous for.
`E found one day `is customers was getting' thin
They'd pass `'is fish and chip shop but they'd not go in
So Uncle stepped outside, threw back `is `ead and cried
In a voice as loud as sin……….Oh

`Addock or Cod or Sprats or `Ake,
Filleted Dover Sole
Kippers or Scampi, Plaice or Skate,
Mackerel by the shoal
I tell yer ev'rythin's fresh and newly fried
`Ot to the finger tips,
You've never eaten till you've tried
Ol' `Enry's Fish and Chips! Oi!

Well, Uncle `Enry soon attracted a crowd there,
All sorts of funny people like you never saw!
But when they `eard me Uncle shoutin' out aloud there,
They come to see what all the blinkin' noise was for.
From Acton Town to `Ackney Wick an' all around,
They flocked to Uncle's like it was a football ground.
A fish `e didn't sell, but still they paid `im well,
Just to `ear `is great new sound……….Oh!

Filleted Dover Sole
Kippers or Scampi, Plaice or Skate,
Mackerel by the shoal
I tell yer ev'rythin's fresh and newly fried

Ol' `Enry's Fish and Chips! Oi!

Soon Uncle `Enry was a signin' a contract
For `alf a dozen records an' TV an' all;
Not only that, but someone else `ad bin in contact
An' offered him a concert at the Albert `All
But Uncle wasn't bothered by `is rise to fame.
`E kept `is fish and chip shop going just the same,
Though NOW `e made `is cash, at `alf a crown a bash,
Singin' out `is old refrain……….Oh!

Now Uncle `Enry's clientele, they inform us,
Includes eleven Ministers an' one MP.
Dukes and their Duchesses in numbers quite enormous,
An' chinless Debs `oo dend you up the family tree!
When questioned by reporters on `is great success
`E never makes a speech, `e Merely says "I guess
It's just because me voice is everybody's choice
Would you like to `ear it?" ………Yes!
