ONE MORE TIME (Lewis Anderson) As sung by the Carpenters < A Kind Of Hush > 1976 I'm goin' way down south to Louisiana tonight Well, I'll just close my eyes and everything's all right Though I'm really far away I'll make my getaway No one need really know that I've been gone. One more time for the good times, that far outweigh the bad One more time for the good times, when love was all we had. (bridge) I'm goin' way down south to Baton Rouge tonight Well, I'll just close the door and turn out all the lights And all the images dance by Of folks and friends who lie Back home where things are slow and easy goin'. One more time for the good times, that far outweigh the bad One more time for the good times, when love was all When love was all. When love was all we had One more time. Notes: The Carpenters were an talented brother/sister singer/songwriting duo born in New Haven, CT USA, later moving to Downey, CA (near Los Angeles) in 1963. In 1965, they embarked upon their historic musical journey. Their distinctive soft rock sound was a contrast to the loud and raucous sounds of the day. As well as singing, Karen was accomplished at drums and brother Richard at piano. Sadly, the duo's career ended prematurely with the heartbreaking death of Karen Carpenter in 1983. She was 32 years old. While they were together, they released 11 albums and 30 singles. The Grammy Hall Of Fame recognized the Carpenters as providing music of 'lasting qualitative or historical significance' (older than 25 years) by honouring them with their prestigious award. The 1971 album "Carpenter" was the most successful release that this talented duo ever produced, both in North America and internationally. It contained the songs for which the Carpenters, to this day and forever, will be indelibly linked such as: RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS LET ME BE THE ONE FOR ALL WE KNOW and SUPERSTAR (Transcribed by David Story June 2014)
