SANDY (Richard Carpenter (m) / John Bettis (l) ) As sung by the Carpenters < A Kind Of Hush > 1976 {chorus below in square brackets] Looking at you I'm almost home again Something in you Puts me at ease. Yes, I know that you're Suspicious of me Do I mean the things I say? You know I've been in love before That much is true But though I've been in love before It wasn't with you. [Ooooo, Sandy Could we spend the day together? You know how rainy weather Gets me down when I'm alone. You, Sandy You gotta be a friend today] An hour with you Would chase the winter away. (bridge) Being with you I'm like a child again Your eyes can see Clearer than mine. No one ever made me quite so aware No one ever took the time. The time it took surprises me Nothing's the same As if my life began again Hearing your name. [Ooooo, Sandy Could we spend the day together? You know how rainy weather Gets me down when I'm alone. You, Sandy You gotta be a friend today] An hour with you would Chase the winter away. An hour with you Would chase the winter away. (bridge to end) Notes: The Carpenters were an talented brother/sister singer/songwriting duo hailing from Los Angeles CA USA. Their distinctive soft rock sound was a contrast to the loud and raucous sounds of the day. As well as singing, Karen was accomplished at drums and brother Richard at piano. Sadly, the duo's career ended prematurely with death of Karen Carpenter in 1983. She was 32 years old. While they were together, they released 11 albums and 30 singles. The Grammy Hall Of Fame recognized the Carpenters as providing music of 'lasting qualitative or history significance' (older than 25 years) by honouring them with their prestigious award. < SANDY > was released as the 'B' side of a 7 inch single 45 rpm disk in 1976. The 'A' side was I NEED TO BE IN LOVE (Transcribed by David Story- April 2014) _________________________________________________________
