SANDY (Louis St. Louis / Scott Simon (m & l) ) As sung by John Travolta (Original Sound Track from the 1978 Motion Picture 'Grease') [spoken in square brackets] Stranded at the drive in, branded a fool, What will they say, Monday at school? Sandy, can't you see, I'm in misery We made a start, now we're apart, There's nothin' left for me. Love has flown, all alone, I sit and wonder why-y-y Oh why you left me, Oh Sandy. Oh Sandy Maybe someday, when high-y school is done Somehow, someway, our two worlds will be one. In heaven forever and ever, we will be, Oh please say you'll stay, Oh Sandy. [Sandy my darlin', you hurt me real bad You know it's true But baby, you gotta believe me when I say, I'm helpless without you.] Love has flown, all alone, I sit, I wonder why-y-y Oh, why you left me, Oh Sandy. Sandy, Sandy, why-y-y-y, Oh Sandy. Notes: The 1978 'Grease' film became one of the highest grossing musical sensations of all time. It was a Broadway hit and has been produced for many mediums, not to mention literally thousands of amateur plays to date. It's doo wop/rock n' roll music as well as the magnetic connection between Travolta and New-John, has made 'Grease' a perennial favorite for all. Interestingly, the original 'Grease' was a 1971 musical based on the teen culture at a high school in Chicago Illinois USA. Accordingly, it was centred on the hard core working class youngsters of that time, referred to as the 'greasers'. The script and music were originally written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. Jacobs was a student at the Chicago high school upon which the story was based. 'Grease' appeared in London in 1973 and co-starred a previously unknown actor named Richard Gere. It has been revived and redone so many times as to make it almost impossible for one to follow it's extensive production history throughout the world. Director: Randal Kleiser Leads: John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John / Stockard Channing / Eve Arden and many notable others (Transcribed by David Story- April 2014)
