STAY THE NIGHT (Susan Casazza (m) / Norman Dolph (l) ) As sung by Jane Olivor 1978 < Stay The Night > Feel I'm tryin' to swim the North Atlantic Ocean I'm travelin' on a different kind of train Heaven saves a place for fallen angels I need someone to take me home again. Stay the night, baby say you love me Stay and love me, stay the night. Stay the night, need you to need me Say you need me, stay the night. I'm livin' with a clock for a companion And waitin' for the telephone, to cry If you stay and love me 'till the mornin' Maybe we won't ever say goodbye. Stay the night, baby say you love me Stay and love me, stay the night. Stay the night, need you to need me Say you need me, stay the night. It takes a while, to know just where you're goin' And sometimes you get lost along the way And since I feel the need inside me growin' I hope that you won't mind it when I say. Stay the night, baby say you love me Stay and love me, stay the night. Stay the night, need you to need me Say you need me, stay the night... Stay the night. Notes: Jane Olivor, an American, was a popular cabaret singer but also performed at Carnegie Hall and other large venues in her career. She is perhaps best known for her duet with Johnny Mathis The Last Time I Felt Like This Jane Olivor was warmly followed by her fans throughout her performing years (1970s until 2009, which encompassed a 10 year hiatus). During that time, her work comprised 10 albums, not a large number as compared to other artists, however they showcased a surprising poignancy, emotion and vulnerability in her crisp, clear voice. Many who attended these cabarets felt that she had great stage presence, a touching style and a very personable way of connecting with her audiences, that endeared her to them forever. It has been said that Jane was one of those unique performers that, had you not been a Jane Olivor fan at the outset of her performance, it was impossible that you would not be, by the time she was finished. One of the USA's national newspapers referred to her intimate cabaret appearances as 'love ins'. (Transcribed by David Story- April 2014)
