Also recorded by: George Shearing Quintet Stockard Channing Diana Krall Dianne Reeves Michele Benson Tish Oney Monica Zetterlund Ramsey Lewis Trio Jody Sandhaus And many others... Don't cry, there'll be another spring I know our hearts will dance again And sing again, so wait for me till then. Be glad, the bird is on the wing Another time to love And laugh with me, just wait and see. I love you now And I'll love you forever Oh don't be sad We'll surely be together. 'Cause the sky is bluer overhead If you will just believe in me There'll be another spring. (bridge) I love you now And I'll love you forever Oh don't be sad We'll surely be together. For the sky is bluer overhead If you will just believe in me There'll be another spring. Notes: Peggy Lee, an American with a Swedish/Norwegian pedigree, was a multi-talented jazz cabaret singer/song writer. She hailed from North Dakota USA. She wrote both music and lyrics for a plethora of well known songs such as I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT YOU IT'S A GOOD DAY WHAT MORE CAN A WOMAN DO, and THE HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER Over her six decade run, she collaborated with many venerable musicians, some being Michel Legrand, Harold Arlen, Francis Lai, Dave Grusin and Duke Ellington. She also had several songs written specifically for her by the likes of Paul McCartney and the songwriting/record producer team of Leiber and Stoller. There are several versions of this lovely song ascribed to Peggy Lee. Perhaps one of the better known is the George Shearing work. Peggy substitutes the word 'For' for the word 'Cause' in the fourth verse in some recordings and the 3rd and 4th verses are often repeated but the music is identical. THERE'LL BE ANOTHER SPRING appeared in the romantic comedy 'Anything Else' in 2003 sung by Stockard Channing. Director: Woody Allen Leads: Woody Allen / Christina Ricci / Danny DeVito / Diana Krall and many other notables. THERE'LL BE ANOTHER SPRING was notably released by Capitol Records as a Peggy Lee/George Shearing EP record in 1959 called 'Beauty and the Beat!' (Transcribed by David Story- April 2014)
