There’s a moon on the mountain
And a gal beneath the moon
Very fair to see
There’s a tear on the face of the man in the moon
She don’t care for me
Oh I wrote her a letter
And my letter let her know
Love her faithfully
But I got her reply, just a card saying no
It could never be

Took the first train I could find
Some candy and a ring
Made the durn girl change her mind
That changes everything

There’s a moon on the mountain
And a gal beneath the moon
Waiting patiently
There’s a smile on the face of the man up in the moon
And she will marry me.
