THE WINE OF YOUTH Charles Aznavour (France) While we still hold, the card in our hands, the fleeing treasure, of youth we know, we're living life to its full measure. For the fruit of love is growing, when the wine of youth is flowing. And while we hear life's distant bells still ringing laughter, we're full of hope, we're blessed with joy, we have no care. So let us drink, while life is brimming, with the wine of youth. Time, so swiftly flies, our summer skies soon slip away. Time, so swiftly wings, each parting wings, each chandelles sadness, so timeless. And then in vain, we cup our hands and catch but sorrow. Each drop of time, like falling rain, knows no tomorrow. We can't hold and sip forever from the wine of youth. Before we learn to smile, our smiles are behind us. Before we learn to live, our life has run away. In a momentary sigh, before we understand, we watch it all go by. We'll never know that time, time again. And then in vain, we cup our hands and catch but sorrow. Each drop of time, like falling rain, knows no tomorrow. We can't hold and sip forever from the wine of youth.
