As recorded by THE COASTERS:
I plopped down in my easy chair and turned on Channel 2
A bad gunslinger called Salty Sam was a-chasin' poor Sweet Sue
He trapped her in the old sawmill and said with an evil laugh
"If you don't give me the deed to your ranch, I'll saw you all in half!"
And then he grabbed her
And then.....he tied her up
And then.....he turned on the buzzsaw
And then.....and then
Uh-uh, and then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
Commercial came on, so I got up to get myself a snack
You should've seen what was goin' on by the time that I got back
Down in the old, abandoned mine, Sweet Sue was a-havin' fits
That villain said, "Give me the deed to your ranch or I'll blow you all to bits!"
And then he grabbed her
And then.....he tied her up
And then.....he lit the fuse to the dynamite
And then.....and then
Uh-uh, and then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
I got so bugged I turned it off and turned on another show
But there was the same old shoot-'em-up and the same old rodeo
Salty Sam was tryin' to stuff Sweet Sue in a burlap sack
He said, "If you don't give me the deed to your ranch, I'm gonna throw you on the railroad track!"
And then he grabbed her
And then.....he tied her up
And then.....he threw her on the railroad track
And then.....a train started comin'
And then.....and then
Uh-uh, and then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones

As recorded by RAY STEVENS:
Well, I plopped down in my easy chair and turned on Channel 2
A bad gunslinger called Salty Sam was a-chasin' poor Sweet Sue
Trapped her in the old sawmill, said with an evil laugh
"If you don't give me the deed to your ranch, I'll saw you all in half!"
And then he grabbed her (SUE: Help, he grabbed me)
He tied her up (SUE: Help, he's tyin' me up)
He turned on the buzzsaw (SUE: Help, he's turnin' on the buzzsaw)
(SUE: Help! Somebody, save me, ow! ow! ow!)
(SAM: Hoo-hah-hah, hoh-hah-hah)
(SUE: Help! Help! Yow, yow, wooh, ooh, ooh, no, no, no, no, ow, ow)
And then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
Commercial came on, so I got up tofixt myself a snack
You should've seen what was goin' on by the time that I got back
Down in the old, abandoned mine, Sweet Sue was a-havin' fits
That villain said, "Give me the deed to your ranch, I'll blow you all to bits!"
And then he grabbed her (SUE: Help, he's grabbin' me again)
He tied her up (SUE: Help, he's tyin' me up again. Same routine)
He lit the fuse to the dynamite (SUE: He's lightin' the fuse to the dynamite)
(SUE: Help! Help! Save me somebody, ow!, ow!)
(SAM: Hoo-hah-hah, hoh-hah-hah)
(SUE: Yow, wooh, wooh, wooh)
And then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
(Instrumental Break)
Well, I got so bugged, I turned it off and I turned on another show
But there was the same old shoot-'em-up, the same old rodeo

He said, "If you don't give me the deed to your ranch, I'll throw you on the railroad track!"
And then he grabbed her (SUE: Help, he grabbed me)
He tied her up (SUE: He's tyin' me up again)
He threw her on the railroad track (SUE: He's throwin' me on the railroad track)
(SUE: Help! Somebody save me)
A train started comin'
(SUE: Ooh, here come the train, here come the train. Yow, wooh, wooh, wooh)
(SAM: Hoo-hah-hah, hoh-hah-hah)
(SUE: Help! Help! Aah-aah-ahh)
And then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin' Jones
Slow-talkin' Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones
Yeah, along came long, lean, lanky Jones
