BALLOONS (WHO'LL BUY MY NICE BALLOONS)
(N. Shawn / F. Magine)
From the Radio Luxembourg show "The Ovaltineys"
The Ovaltineys & Monte Ray - 1938
GIRL: Now here's Uncle Monte.
OVALTINEYS: Ooh, good!
GIRL: He's going to help us sing "Balloons"
MONTE:
When the weather's sunny
You can always hear a funny
Little fellow singing
"Balloons, who'll buy my nice balloons?"
Kiddies never fear him
How they love to hover near him
Just to hear him singing
"Balloons, who'll buy my nice balloons?"
He just goes along, singing his song
Carefree as a bird winging along
Spreading cheer with his roundelay
Making little hearts happy and gay
If I had a wish to make
I'd make a wish that I could take
His place there singing
"Balloons, who'll buy my nice balloons?"
When he passes underneath the window
They all know he's there just by his song
Little faces pressed against the window
Smile at him as he shuffles along
Tra-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Tra-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
OVALTINEYS:
When the weather's sunny
You can always hear a funny
Little fellow singing
"Balloons, who'll buy my nice balloons?"
Kiddies never fear him
How they love to hover near him
Just to hear him singing
"Balloons, who'll buy my nice balloons?"
MONTE:

Carefree as a bird winging along
Spreading cheer with his roundelay
Making little hearts happy and gay
OVALTINEYS:
If I had a wish to make
I'd make a wish that I could take
His place there singing
"Balloons, who'll buy my nice balloons?"
MONTE:
Who'll buy my nice balloons?
