BESIDE THE RIVER CLYDE
(Schall / Jerome)
as recorded by Maxine Sullivan
March 3rd 1942 New York
Long ago, a lad met a lassie by the rippling tide
And they fell in love; It happened in Scotland
Beside the River Clyde.
Came the day the lad kissed his lassie, and the lassie cried
When he said goodbye and left her in Scotland
Beside the River Clyde.
Could auld acquaintance be forgot,
How light the heart would be!
But when you miss the one you love,
You could let me doon and dee.
In his dreams, the lad sees his lassie strolling by his side;
Though they're far apart, their hearts are in Scotland
Beside the River Clyde.
Could auld acquaintance be forgot,
How light the heart would be!
But when you miss the one you love,
You could let me doon and dee.
In his dreams, the lad sees his lassie strolling by his side;
Though they're far apart, their hearts are in Scotland
Beside the River Clyde.
