I got to lookin' at myself in the mirror just the other night
Detected that my temples had a few hairs turnin' white
Got excited for a moment, but finally got control of myself
Said, "Look here, Faron, you still got a good time left"

Oh, I just wanna stay young and in my prime
When I leave this world I wanna leave with this in mind
If I live to be a hundred, I'll only be as old as I feel
But before I get that old, I'm gonna have myself a bunch of young ideas

I got acquainted with a teenage doll that's a sight to see
And when I asked her for a date, she told me she was too young for me, hmm
But I'd rather she had told me I was bein' just a little too bold
'Cause I could face the facts much better if I felt that old 

Yeah, oh, I just wanna stay young and in my prime
When I leave this world I wanna leave with this in mind
