BUT WHAT ARE THESE?
Paxton / Fairbanks / Thomas
as rec by Connie Haines w Ray Bloch & his Orch 1947
I've joined the Lonely Hearts Club,
They've promised me romance;
I'm trying my utmostest,
But haven't got a chance!
Only glamour girls have a world that romances;
The boys retreat from all of my advances!
Some romance, yes sirree!
Nobody takes a look at me!
So I don't have hair like Alice Faye,
What is this, hay?
How those guys make me sick,
They like the glamour spread on thick!
So I don't have lips like xxxx? Louise,
What are these, cream cheese?
Once upon a time there was a gal,
Her name was Cinderella,
Love, romance and thrills she didn't know!
Then one night she lost a shoe
And like that she got a fella!,
But it ain't necessarily so!
Though I do all I can,
I find that I can't get a man!
I see my legs aren't just like Betty Grable,
What are these for, a table?
Ten million prospectees,
I never find one I can please!
I know my figure won't make Lana blush,
What's this, a bowl o' mush?
Won't somebody take a chance?
I'm in the mood for sweet romance!
Though I may not sing like Deanna D,
What's wrong with my personality?
Once upon a time there was a gal,
Her name was Cinderella,
Love, romance and thrills she didn't know!
Then one night she lost a shoe
And like that she got a fella!,
But it ain't necessarily so!
Rich or poor, movie stars,
I'll even take a man from Mars!
Though I may not be full of "oomph" or "it",
What I've got, brother, ain't counterfeit!
So won't someone be my fella?
Don't you know I'm little Cinderella?
Come on, take a chance with me!
