DEEP WATER (Elsie Carlisle)
Arthur Schwartz / Brian
as rec by Elsie Carlisle
I'm in deep water,
Haven't got a boat to row me back to the shore;
Kind neighbour, good neighbour, pray for me!
I'm in deep water,
Haven't got a single friend to throw me an oar,
Im drifting, just drifting out to sea!
Why don't somebody show me a sign?
Someone throw me a line!
Ain't nobody got no time for sympathy?
I'm in deep water,
Haven't got a boat to row me back to the shore;
Deep water never drowns my troubles for me!
Tides going out, I'm going too,
Drifting right out to sea!
No-one's about,
Here's when I shout,
There's no life saver for me!
It ain't going to last,
I'm sinking fast,
Water's right up to my knee!
Why don't some somebody show me a sign?
Ain't there anybody who can throw me a line?
'Cause night and day,
You'll hear me pray
For sympsthy,
Because, you see;
That I'm in deep blue water;
I haven't got a boat to row me back to the shore;
Deep water never drowns my troubles for me!
