DON'T WEEP FOR THE LADY
Harold S Hopper / Thomas M Adair / George Durgon
as rec by Betty Carter w Richard Wess & his Orch 1960
Don't weep for the lady,
She wouldn't want it that way.
A mircale lady,
When she was blue she was gay!
I'll always remember
That sweet and wistful smile;
She seemed to know,
When things were low,
That they'd get better after a while.
And for many many years,
She stood your heart full of soul, so full!
Those haunting melodies
Will keep her memory strong,
So very long!
And so, let us pray the Lord
Her troubled soul he'll keep
And give her peace;
But, but for the lady don't you weep,
No, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Not for Billie!
Billie, Billie, don't you weep!
