GEE OH GOSH I'M GRATEFUL
Carr / Nesbitt / Nesbitt
as rec by Elsie Carlisle & Sam Browne
[sb]
Just a lonely batchelor soul,
Out one evening for a stroll,
[ec]
I caught by chance a glance!
[sb]
Suddenly the sunshine wore a frown,
And a Summer shower came pouring down,
[ec]
I knew I'd found romance!
[sb]
You were very sweet and I was very lonely,
In my heart the strangest kind of pain.
[ec]
Gee, oh gosh, I'm grateful,
'Cause it started to rain!
[sb]
In your alice gown you looked a dream from heaven,
Lovely as a rhapsody refrain!
Gee, oh gosh, I'm grateful,
[ec]
'Cause it started to rain, started to rain!
[ec[
You said sweetly, "Share my umbrella,
'Cause I'm a regular fella, please do!".
[sb]
You blushed sweetly, shared my umbrella,
said, "Mister regula fella, thank you!".
[ec]
Now we've got a house with the cutest little blue room,
[sb]
Every night at six I catch my train.
[ec]
Gee, oh gosh, I'm grateful,
[both]
'Cause it started to rain!
[sb]
I said, "Why, your pretty dress is ringing!",
But my heart was singing with joy!
[ec]
I said, "Yes, of course my dress is ringing!",
But my heart said, "What a handsome boy!".
[ec]
Now we've got a house, the neighbours love my baby,
[sb]
Every night at six I catch my train.
[both]
Gee, oh gosh, I'm grateful,
'Cause it started to rain!
