HIVE FULL OF HONEY
(Sammy Fain (m) / Paul Francis Webster (l) )
As sung by Dick Wesson 1953 CALAMITY JANE (original film soundtrack)
I've got two wonderful arms
I've got two wonderful lips
I'm over twenty one, and I'm free.
Oh, I've got a hive full o' honey
For the right kind of honey bee.
I'm not the glamorous type
But I'm the amorous type
You'll love the way I fit on your knee.
Oh, I've got a hive full o' honey
For the right kind of honey bee.
My daddy owns a railroad
And my ma is a millionaire
And besides I'm an only child
Do you think you could learn to care.
If you're the one I adore
Come on and get it before
Somebody shakes it down from the tree.
I've got a hive full o' honey
For the right kind of honey bee.
I got two wonderful arms
I got two wonderful lips
I'm over twenty one, and I'm free.
Oh, I've got a hive full o' honey
For the right kind of honey bee.
NOTES:
This song formed part of the soundtrack for the 1953 Warner Bros film
< Calamity Jane >.
Several stage, screen and TV renditions of CALAMITY JANE have been
made over the years, based on this colourful American woman from the old
wild West. Calamity, who distinguished herself by scouting and fighting
Native American Indians, also claimed to have know Wild Bill Hickok
personally. Not only that, she always maintained that she was married to
him and produced a child from the union. On her death, she was buried
beside him. Perhaps the most notable of all these adaptations to date is
in fact this 1953 film. It was created by Warner Brothers in response to
the success of < Annie Get Your Gun > (1950).
