HOLIDAY AFFAIR
(Carson)
as recorded by Jill Day
April 1956
In the shadow of St Peters on a Summer night in Rome,
I met you feeling lonely, and a million miles from home.
In the moonlight,
On a June night,
We began a holiday affair.
I recall each magic moment, like the dawn across Capri,
The steamer to Sorrento, and the way you looked at me!
Never parted,
Happy hearted,
We began a holiday affair.
Italian skies,
Your laughing eyes,
Corner tables for two.
The steeple bell,
The wishing well,
No need to wish, my dream had come true!
Soon we kissed and then we parted, and you promised you would write;
I haven't had a letter, and I'm waiting day and night!
Dreaming of you,
For I love you,
And I'm wondering if you really care,
Or was it just a holiday affair?
Dreaming of you,
For I love you,
And I'm wondering if you really care,
Or was it just a holiday affair?
