HOOK, LINE AND SINKER
(Donelsen)
Gordon Terry - 1958
Also recorded by: The Barnstompers
Well, I used to be as happy as a single guy could be
Until I met the gal who made a fool outta me
She give me a smile and a come-hither look
Before I knew what I was doin' she had me on her hook
I swallowed her bait hook, line, sinker and all
Well, we went out a-dancin' and I took her to a show
We went to all the places that a couple might go
And when I took her home I didn't know right then
That I had myself a headache that would never end
I swallowed her bait hook, line, sinker and all
(Instrumental Break)
Well, we went to see a Parson and my trouble did start
He said "For better or worse" and "till death do you part"
And when I said "Yes", something in me seemed to say
Brother, you'll regret it till your dyin' day
I swallowed her bait hook, line, sinker and all
Well, the moral of this story is don't ever get hooked
By the flitin' kind o' women or your goose'll be cooked
And when they're always purty eyes, just look the other way
And you'll never be sorry, but that's all I can say
I swallowed her bait hook, line, sinker and all
