HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT, THE (Vikki Carr)
Price
as rec by Vikki Carr 1967
The door is open the way it used to be,
Every night I'd wait to meet him there;
And now I stand at that doorway,
And all I see
Is my man walkin' out on me!
This is the house that Jack built,
The little white house that Jack built
For the happy bride he once found,
Mind if I show you around?
There's the old chair that Jack loved,
The red leather chair that Jack loved,
Where we dreamed when the long dat was through;
If you sit close it holds two!
Look at the nursery, isn't it sad!
Toys for the little ones that we never had!
This is the house that Jack built,
The little white house that my Jack built;
Call me crazt to keep it that way,
Oh, but maybe he'll come back one day;
Guess I'll stay!
This is the house that Jack built,
The little white house that Jack built...
