SAT'DAY NIGHT ROCK-A-BOOGIE
(Anthony Newley / Joe Henderdon)
Performed by Anthony Newley
On Monday
On Tuesday
On a Wednesday
On a Thursday
On a Friday
On a Saturday night
I'm the King!
Monday, my baby doll gets a-busy
A-buzzin' around just like a honey bee
She looks so neat and sugar pie
A-washin' out my slim-jim tie
Just scrubbin' away (Scubbin' away)
Just a-scrubbin' away (Scrubbin' away)
She gonna make me like a king for Sat'day night
On a Tuesday my baby doll gets a-busy
A-buzzin' around just like a honey bee
She looks just like a candy packet
A-brushin' up my new suede jacket
Just a-brushin' away (Brushin' away)
Just a-brushin' away (Brushin' away)
She gonna make me like a king for Sat'day night
On Wednesday my baby doll gets a-busy
A-buzzin' around just like a honey bee
She looks so neat I wanna dance
A-creasin' up my drainpipe pants
Just a-creasin' away (Creasin' away)
Just a-creasin' away (Creasin' away)
She gonna make me like a king for Sat'day night
On a Thursday my baby doll gets a-busy-busy-busy-busy
Buzzin' around just like a honey bee
She's sweeter than a candy box
A-wasin' out my two-tone socks
Just a-washin' away (Washin' away)
Just a-washin' away (Washin' away)
She gonna make me like a king for Sat'day night
On a Friday my baby doll gets a-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy
Buzzin' around just like a honey bee
She's fresher than tomorrow's news
A-brushin' up my blue suede shoes
Just a-brushin' away (Brushin' away)
Just a-brushin' away, man (Brushin' away
She gonna make me like a king for Sat'day night
On Saturday my baby takes it easy
She's layin' around just like a queenie bee
She's a livin' doll and she's my date
We're gonna rock to that eighty-eight
Just a-rockin' away (Rockin' away)
Just a-rockin' away (Rockin' away)
I'm the King and she's the Queen on Sat'day night
(What happens on Sunday)
I'm the King and she's the Queen on Sat'day night

IDLE ON PARADE
(Len Praverman))
Performed by Anthony Newley
This is a camp that is a-mighty tough
Were the marchin' men are made
But I am a guy who doesn't dig that stuff
And I'm idle on parade
There is a man, a Sergeant-Major Lush
And he has got to be obeyed (Yeah!)
And in a voice just like a little thrush
He says I'm idle on parade
Now, when they gave me a rifle, well they went too far
I'm much better off when I got a guitar
I told the C.O. that I wanna be sent
He sent me to a place where I could repent
When I was a-free, I was a crazy pup
Rock-a-boogie was my trade
Now Captain Burton-Bassett says I'm all shook up
And I'm idle on parade
When they gave me a rifle, well they went too far
I'm much better off when I got a guitar
I told the C.O. that I wanna be sent
He sent me to a place where I could repent
When I was a-free, I was a crazy pup
Rock-a-boogie was my trade
Now Captain Burton-Bassett says I'm all shook up
And I'm idle on para-a-a-a-a-ade
(Idle on paraa-a-a-ade)

IDLE ROCK-A-BOOGIE
(Anthony Newley / Joe Henderson)
Performed by Anthony Newley and William Bendix
(Wham- bam-boom, wham-bam-dee-boom)
(Wham-bam-boom, wham-bam-dee-boom)
(Wham bam-boom, wham-bam-dee-boom)
(Wham bam-boom, wham-bam-dee-boom)
Policemen came to fetch me in the wagon one morn'
They said, "Now pretty daddy, don't you look so forlorn
We hate to drag you out from under your looking glass
But we need you in the Army just to give it some class"
Just when I thought they'd missed me out
That's when I heard the Sergeant-Major shoutin' ("Wham-bam-boom")
(BENDIX: You're idle on parade)
They dressed me all in khaki and they gave me a gun
The colour didn't suit me, so I went on the run
The Milit'ry Policeman kindly took me inside
And then at my court-martial Sergenat-Major Lush cried
Just when I thought they'd missed me out
That's when I heard the Sergeant shoutin' "Wham-bam-boom"
(BENDIX: You're idle on parade)
The chow they serve is marvellous, right out o' the book
We even have a special chef from Paris to cook
When Mr. Burton-Bassett orders "Any complaints?"
They have to get two men to hold the chef up when he faints
Just when I thought they'd miseds me out
That's when I heard the Sergeant shoutin' "Wham-bam-boom"
(BENDIX: You're idle on parade)
The Officers are gentlemen, treat us with care
And our Commanding Officer believes in fresh air
One day while on manoeuvres early, I held him call
"If the enemy attacks, you'll find me by the eighteenth hole"
Just when I thought they'd missed me out
That's when I heard the Sergeant shoutin' "Wham-bam-boom"
(BENDIX: You're idle on parade)
(Instrumental Break)
Just when I thought they'd missed me
That's when I heard the Sergeant shoutin' "Wham-bam-boom"
(BENDIX: You're idle on parade)
Just when I thought they'd missed me
That's when I heard the Sergeant shoutin' "Wham-bam-boom"
(BENDIX: You're idle on parade)
Wham-bam-boom, yeah! (BENDIX: You're idle!)

I'VE WAITED SO LONG
(Jerry Lorden)
Performed by Anthony Newley
(So long, I've waited so long,
(So long, I've waited so long)
I've waited so long, a lifetime it seems
For someone to step right out of my dreams
All that an angel could be
And meant for only me.
Play me a tune, haunting and blue
Tell me of dreams that never come true
Sing me a lonely song
Till she comes along
It will be so wonderful
When love comes my way
No more lonely hours
They'll just fade away
Some day we'll meet
Somewhere I know
We'll kiss and say
"I love you so, Darling"
Surely I can't be so wrong
For I've waited
Yes, I've waited
So very long
So long, my darling (So long, I've waited so long)
So long, my darling (So long, I've waited so long)
So long, my darling, darling...........FADE
