I JUST CAN'T REMEMBER THE WORDS
(Spina)
as recorded by Helen O'Connell
with Hal Mooney & his Orchestra
1953
I just can't remember the words,
But it goes "la-de-de-de, do-do-de-do-do".
It's kinda simple and clear,
And right about here
Is where the words say "I love you!".
It's easy to think of the tune,
'Cause it goes "la-de-de-do, do-do-de-de-de".
A pretty ditty, and yet
The words I forget,
But I remember "I love you!".
I love to sing the wonderful songs
Those fellas always write.
I learn every line
That might make you mine,
But when I'm with you in the pale moonlight,
I just can't remember the words,
But it goes "la-de-de-de, do-de-do-do".
It's kinda simple and clear,
And right about here
Is where the words say "I love you!".
It's easy to think of the tune,
'Cause it goes "la-de-de-do, do-do-de-de-de".
I'm gonna sing it and then
I'll sing it again,
Because I love that "I love you!".
(scat)
(scat), I love you!
It's so romantic to sing the wonderful songs
Those fellas always write.
I learn every line
That might make you mine,
But when I'm with you in the pale moonlight,
I just can't remember the words,
But it goes "la-de-de-de, de-de-de-de-de".
Can't find the words to the song,
Ain't worried as long
As I remember "I love you!".
