IN OLD SANTA FE
(Robert Stolz / Popplewell)
as recorded by

January 1949 London
THE bells in the steeple played
One fine wedding day;
The bride was the sweetest maid
In old Santa Fe.
To marry for wealth and pride,
She had to obey,
So blue was the fairest bride
In old Santa Fe!
In the little town the bells were ringing,
In the pretty church the choir was singing,
But the word had got around
That the bride could not be found!
That night, when the moon was high,
Two lovers, they say,
Met under a velvet sky
In old Santa Fe;
True love found a way
In old Santa Fe!
That night, when the moon was high,
Two lovers, they say,
Met under a velvet sky
In old Santa Fe;
True love found a way
In old Santa Fe!
