I'VE NEVER BEEN SOBER
(Terry Fell)
Terry Fell - 1969
I sit here each night, a bottle in my hand
I drink until I'm slowly sinkin'
And I've never been sober long enough
To remember the reason I'm drinkin'
I've drank now so long, I only feel at home
Where bright neon lights are blinkin'
And I've never been sober long enough
To remember the reason I'm drinkin'
That old jukebox plays and drowns all my fears
And time slips away just like magic
I know I should go home, but I'm so afraid
Afraid I'd do something tragic
I say every day I'm gonna straighten up
And try to change my ways of thinkin'
But I've never been sober long enough
To remember the reason I'm drinkin'
But I've never been sober long enough
To remember the reason I'm drinkin'
