I VOLUNTEER
(Larry Boone / William Robinson / Tammy Hyler)
As sung by Collin Raye [I Think About You] 1995
You look like your feelin' like
The rain won't ever stop
Life has left you standin' there
One against the odds.
From now on you need to know
You don't have to stand alone.
When the world turns you in circles
And the wind is at your face
And you need somewhere to run to
I know the place.
If you want someone who's willing
To lay down their hearts
Someone to dry your tears
I'm here, I volunteer.
A shoulder, a caring voice
To tell you it's okay
Two arms meant to shelter you
If ever you're afraid.
I've got that and more to spare
Just say the word and I'll be there.
When the world turns you in circles
And the wind is at your face
And you need somewhere to run to
I know the place.
If you want someone who's willing
To lay down their heart
Someone to dry your tears
I'm here, I volunteer.
If you want someone who's willing
To lay down their heart from now
Throughout the years
I'm here, I volunteer.
Notes:
Collin Raye is an American singer and bass guitarist from Arkansas.
Although he is known primarily for his country pop work, often his songs
also reflect social issues and many know him for this. Such topics have
included child abuse, alcoholism, religion, wars, and death.
Interestingly, two of his best known songs (emotional offerings as they
are) are often requested for weddings and funerals, the former perhaps
being IN THIS LIFE 1992
and the latter LOVE, ME 1991.
