I WAS BORN ABOUT TEN THOUSAND YEARS AGO


I recall once hearing the following verse, which does not appear in any of the versions in this collection:

I was there when Alexander crossed the sea, 
And I always cheered him on to victory.
And when King Darius died,
I was fighting by his side,
And so he left his chariot to me.
