Jimmy was regular at the local drinkin' bar
He worked like everybody else and his ways were mean and hard
I met him as a little boy and it lasted as I grew
But Jimmy's life was tough and it seemed like everybody knew

We got to be together 'fore the good Lord took him in
He said I'm never comin' back to this old town again
Said no one understands me, folks don�t even want me home
He took a drink of wine and said it�s hell to be alone

I finally got to see ol' Jim after bein' gone so long
