LET'S GET ACQUAINTED (Stephen Charles / Van Roberts (m & l) ) As sung by the Lennon Sisters 1957 < Let's Get Acquainted > Let's get acquainted Better and better acquainted Start with hello and there's no telling Where it may go. Now that I've met ya I'm safe in saying, I'll bet ya There are some things about you I'd be pleased to know. Little by little, we'll get to do things We hadn't planned before Little by little, we'll learn a few things That will warm our friendship more. And for the future I've got a plan that might suit ya One dream that all began with Let's get acquainted. Let's get acquainted Better and better acquainted Start with hello and there's no telling Where it may go. Now that I've met ya I'm safe in saying, I'll bet ya There are some things about you I'd be pleased to know. Little by little, we'll get to do things We hadn't planned before Little by little, we'll learn a few things That will warm our friendship more. And for the future I've got a plan that might suit ya One dream that all began with Let's get acquainted... Let's get acquainted... Let's get acquainted. NOTES: The four Lennon sisters (of 6) were part of an 11 sibling family which formed this traditional American pop group. They had a significant pedigree, springing from being children of Bill Lennon who was a vocalist (as well as having other vocations). After over 50 years, the sisters are still performing as of 2013. Dianne, Peggy, Kathy and Janet got their start on the Lawrence Welk show. This happened by chance after Welk's son Larry met Dianne at high school and convinced his father to have a listen to them. To music enthusiasts, the sisters are sometimes recognized for their first hit < Tonight, You Belong To Me > in 1956 although the popularity of this song (during the 1950s) really belonged to the 'one hit wonder' duo of Patience and Prudence. Billy Rose and Lee David wrote the original music and lyrics in 1926. (Transcribed by David Story - March 2014)
