LITTLE CRACKED BELL (OF SAN RAQUEL)

As I was riding home one day
>From a rodeo in Mexico
I missed my way along the trail
And I didn't know which way to go
My horse was lame and we were lost
And as the purple shadows fell
I heard the little cracked bell
Of San Raquel
Beyond the ridge that lay ahead
In a valley as the sun went down
Reflected in the golden rays
Were the rooftops of a tiny town
It seemed the answer to a prayer
And then I knew that all was well
Thanks to the little cracked bell
Of San Raquel
The next day was the Rose Fiesta
And in the crowded market square
I danced with a girl, and I caressed her
And she gave me the rose in her hair
And in return I gave my heart
But before this tale of mine is told
Inside the mission church today
On her hand I'll place a band of gold
As on the stage we ride away
To what the Gringos call a small hotel
They'll ring the little cracked bell
Of San Raquel
As on the stage we ride away
To what the Gringos call a small hotel
They'll ring the little cracked bell
Of San Raquel
