I've waited long to have my say,
Till southern gals have had their day.
I've got the smile now,
All the while now,
Just another maidy come to stay!

Those gals way down would get no show,
They'd stand no chance in Idaho!
She ain't no piccaninny
>From way down or West Virginny,
But she sits a-dreamin' where the salmon waters flow.

Why does she sit and sigh,
This little lady, this little lady-o?
Why does she droop her eye,
This pretty maidy, this lovely gal?
A-don't ya know?  Well now ya see,
It is beca'se she am so lovesick, all for me!
