LITTLE SWISS WHISTLING SONG
(Harry Parr-Davies 1939)
as recorded by
Bebe Daniels & Ben Lyon
The Swiss that live in Switzerland don't yodel any more,
They've heard it on the radio, and they got fed up and sore!
But when dangling on a precipice or freezing down below,
How do they let you know when they're hidden in the snow?
There's a little Swiss whistling song, (whistle)
And they whistle it all day long, (whistle).
For when little Swiss things go wrong,
They forget to grouse and grumble;
All they do is, (whistle),
All they do is, (whistle),
With a little Swiss whistling song!
But when, being sentimental,
They think it detrimental
To be gay when making love;
Then this is what they do,
They whistle "I love you!".
But for your general information,
This is the national song of the nation;
(whistle)
There's a little Swiss whistling song, (whistle)
And they whistle it all day long, (whistle).
For when little Swiss things go wrong,
They forget to grouse and grumble;
All they do is, (whistle),
All they do is, (whistle),
With a little Swiss whistling song!
But when, being sentimental,
They think it detrimental
To be gay when making love;
Then this is what they do,
They whistle "I love you!".
But for your general information,
This is the national song of the nation;
(whistle)
There's a little Swiss whistling song, (whistle)
And they whistle it all day long, (whistle).
For when little Swiss things go wrong,
They forget to grouse and grumble;
All they do is, (whistle),
All they do is, (whistle),
With a little Swiss whistling, (whistle)
With a little Swiss whistling song!
(whistle)
