LOVE IS HERE TO STAY
From the film "Goldwyn Follies" & the film "An American In Paris"
(Ira Gershwin / George Gershwin)
originally titled "It's Here to Stay",
then as "Our Love Is Here to Stay", and was finally
published as "Love Is Here to Stay".
Ira Gershwin had said that he wanted to
change the song's name back to "Our Love Is Here to Stay"
for years, but felt that it wouldn't be right since the
song had already become a standard.

It's very clear, our love is here to stay
Not for a year but ever and a day
The radio and the telephone and the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies and in time may go
But, oh, my dear, our love is here to stay
Together we're goin' a long, long way
In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay

OUR LOVE IS HERE TO STAY (Dinah Shore)
as recorded by Dinah Shore 1959
The more I read the papers,
The less I comprehend
The world and all its capers,
And how it all will end.
Nothing seems to be lasting,
But that isn't our affair;
We've got something permanent,
I mean in the way we care.
It's very clear
Our love is here to stay;
Not for a year,
But ever and a day.
The radio and the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies,
And in time may go.
But oh, my dear,
Our love is here to stay.
Together we're
Going a long, long way.
In time the Rockies may crumble,
Gibraltar may tumble,
They're only made of clay,
But our love is here to stay.
In time the Rockies may crumble,
Gibraltar may tumble,
They're only made of clay,
But our love is here,
It's very clear,
Our love is here to stay.
