LULLABY
(Sheila Brook)
Turnstone
Dressed in blue
Dear old couple on the train
Side by side
With shades of lightest green and grey
Silver halos catch the light of spring
As old England passes by the train line brings
Fox and Heron South of Crewe
Rolling stock at junction two
But old couple just don't see
They sleep away the miles
In seats like cradles dreaming lullaby’s
Coming through
Dear old drunkard on the train
Swaying with the motion
Dressed in denim old and stained
Speaking out in tongues
Fantasies and truth
Calling out the names of football clubs and Ruth
Ruth is obviously not here
But the old drunk has no fear
He can see her very clear
For she's the only one
He cradles in his mind like lullabies
Now deep in chairs we sit
And grip our hearts for fear the love we feel will spill
Spill like falling rain
And leave us with the wonder of our hearts again
On this lullaby train
Two by two
Dear young travellers on the train
Savouring the last lap of an Odyssey in Spain
Wide eyed with the wonder of the Western sky
The time will fly just sing yourselves a lullaby
Now deep in chairs we sit
And grip our hearts for fear the love we feel will spill
Spill like falling rain
And leave us with the wonder of our hearts again
On this lullaby train
Lula lula lula lula by by
Does you want the moon to play with
Lula lula lula lula by by
Or the moon to run away with
They’ll come if you don’t cry
They’ll come if you don’t cry
Lula lula lula lula by by does you want the moon to play with
