MY DADDY'S EYES
Smiley Bates
With unpredicted certainty
The doctors compromised
If the little girl could hope to have
Her sight she'd been deprived
But with the touch of God's great hand
And prayer's her mommy prayed
Her unforseen world opened wide
The doctors heard her say
Before my daddy passed away
He willed his eyes to me
His only soul possession left
To give that I might see
Though I miss my daddy so
I often sit and cry
But grateful I may view the world
Through my daddy's eyes
The shades of darkness cast away
From site of daddy's eyes
I feel like I have angel wings
In a world of paradise
To view the world through daddy's eyes
It seems unreal to me
For I was raised from child birth
With eyes that could not see
My mommy tells how happy
Her and daddy use to be
And how they prayed to God above
That one day I might see
Their prayer's may now be answered
Though I wonder why
The Lord would take my daddy's life
To leave me daddy's eyes
Before my daddy passed away
He willed his eyes to me
His only soul possession left
To give that I might see
Though I miss my daddy so
I often sit and cry
But grateful I may view the world
Through my daddy's eyes
