MY LAGAN LOVE
(traditional early 20th c (m) Joseph Campbell (l) )
as recorded by Barbara Dickson 2001
Where Lagan streams sing lullaby
There blooms a lily fair,
And the twilight gleam is in her eye
And the night is in her hair.
And like a lovesick leanan sidhe
She does my heart enthrall,
Nor life I owe, nor liberty,
For love is lord of all!
And often when the beetle's horn
Has lulled the eve to sleep,
I steal unto her shieling lorn
And through the doorway peep.
There on the cricket's singing stone
She spurns the bogwood fire,
And hums in sad sweet undertone
The song of heart's desire.
