When I first saw my baby she was dancing hot and fast
But I was in a corner with my leg in a cast.
When I met her I impressed her. Said, "I'm a
heavy dancin' guy once my leg isn't so broken", even tho it was a lie.
She just said:

Koko gris gris gumbo naya

Well, anyway, I watched her through the night.
Then I gave her a ride and we stopped in at a diner.
Before I got her home we had fallen in love and it couldn't have felt
any finer.

My baby likes to boogie to the dancin' sounds. I was born with two left
feet.
She thinks I can swing to the disco thing but I just can't get it.
She keeps saying

I wanted to keep my cast on longer but the doctor said it was time.
Now I watch Soul Train and American Bandstand but I just ain't got no
rhythm. I can't keep time.

(girl): What will you say when you learn the day there's no way you can
live to be the man of her dreams.

(answer): I'll just say
