PICCADILLY LINE
(Dale / Robinson / Dale)
Jim Dale - 1957
** A parody of Lonnie Donegan's 1956 version of "Rock Island Line"
Now, this is the story about the Piccadilly Line
Now, the Piccadilly Line, she's a long railway
And she runs all the way under London
Just outside the tube station there's a big gate
'Cause ev'ryone who goes through that gate
They gotta pay that man some money
Gotta give him a ticket, 'cause, if you got a certain ticket
You don't have to pay the man anything
Just now we see a fellah walking through the gate
As ge goes through, the ticket colector turns round
And shouts, "Say, fellah, fellah, you got anything for me?"
The fellah turns round and he shouts back and says
"I got a season, I got a season, oh-oh-oh, yes, a season"
So the ticket collector, he says, "Well, that's okay, man
You can go through, you don't have to pay anything"
So, the fellah he does go through, walks down the corridor
Gets on the escalator. Now, 'cause when he gets on the escalator
It starts to go a little faster, gathers up a bit more speed
And when the fellah thinks he's out of sight
He turns round and he shouts back and he says
"Well now I fooled ya, I fooled ya, I got a fourpenny
I got a fourpenny, oh yes, I got a fourpenny"
Said, "And shall I tell ya where I'm going man, umm?"
Well, on the Piccadilly Line, she's a mighty fine line
The Piccadilly Line, she's the line to ride
The Piccadilly Line, she's a mighty fine line
You wanta go from here to there, north or south or anywhere
Go and get a ticket on the Piccadilly Line
Well, I may be right and I may be wrong
But a trip on the bus takes far too long
Go on the Piccadilly Line, a mighty fine line
The Piccadilly Line, she's the line to ride
The Piccadilly Line, she's a mighty fine line
You wanta go here to there, north or south or anywhere
Go and get a ticket on the Piccadilly Line
Well, Lordy, Lordy, what a din
Why don't they they open those doors 'cause I can't get in
On the Piccadilly Line, a mighty fine line
The Piccadilly Line, she's the line to ride
The Piccadilly Line, she's a mighty fine line
You wanta go here to there, north or south or anywhere
Go and get a ticket on the Piccadilly Line
Now, if I could travel that Line for free
I'd be on that train till eternity
Well, it's the Piccadilly Line, a mighty fine line
The Piccadilly Line, she's the line to ride
The Piccadilly Line, she's a mighty fine line
You wanta go here to there, north or south or anywhere
Go and get a ticket on the Piccadilly Line
Mind the doors!
