RABBIT TRACKS
(Sammi Smith)
Sammi Smith - 1976
Looky yonder, looky yonder, a-comin' down the road
Is little britches lookin' like a tiny Farmer Jones
A-gettin' his broomstick pony ready to ride in the rodeo
He got a piece o' twine that he use for fishin' line tied around his big toe
An' everybody calls him Rabbit Tracks
Carryin' a rainbow on his back
A pocketful of smiles for anyone
He's got time, take time, stop and take one
Everybody calls him Rabbit Tracks
Carryin' the Sun in a paper sack
An old dead daisy in a muddy fist
He's standin' on his tiptoes just tradin' for a kiss
Just follow me, my son, through the shiny silver night
All the way down the river road with nothin' but the fireflies' light
And I will show you wondrous things you've never seen before
And every day in every way I'll show just a little bit more
An' everybody calls him Rabbit Tracks
Carryin' a rainbow on his back
A pocketful of smiles for anyone
He's got time, take time, stop and take one
Everybody calls him Rabbit Tracks
Carryin' the Sun in a paper sack
An old dead daisy in a muddy fist
He's standin' on his tiptoes tradin' for a kiss
An' everybody calls him Rabbit Tracks
Carryin' a rainbow ..... FADE
