RIVER'S TAKING CARE OF ME, THE
R S Adams / J Greer
as rec by Connee Boswell
June 15th 1933 New York
I reach my journey's end,
At last I've found a friend,
River, oh river, I owe a lot to you!
It seems I'm on your mind,
You always treat me kind,
Happy, I'm happy, and mighty thankful too, for;
I've got the river,
That friendly nriver,
He gives me everything free!
I love the river,
That river's takin' care of me!
I catch my breakfast,
I catch my supper,
Without him where would I be?
He's just a river,
But dearly takin' care of me!
He never stops to ask the reason I'm here,
Just fills my empty bowl.
All he has he's willin' to share,
I guess that river has a soul!
'Cause when I get my trouble,
He takes my trouble
And carries them out to sea!
I love the river,
The river's takin' care of me!
I get that river,
That friendly river,
He gives me everything free, oh-oh!
I love that river,
The river's takin' care of me!
I catch my breakfast,
I catch my supper,
Without him where would I be?
Said I love that river
'Cause he's always takin' care of me!
He never asks the reason I'm here,
Just fills my empty bowl.
All he has he's willin' to share,
I guess that river has a soul!
Oh-oh-oh, when I got my trouble,
He takes my trouble
And carries them out to sea!
I love the river,
The river's takin' care of me!
