I may be rather careful
A little slow to spend
Don't often push the boat out
And I haven't cash to lend
It's not that I'm a meany
Or spending comes amiss
I'll tell you confidentially, folks
The reason for it's this....
I'm saving up for Sally
I'm saving for a rainy day
I save what I can spare
A penny here and there
And just to keep us off the rocks
I pop it in me moneybox
Oh, I'm not a lad to dally
Of Sally I'm as proud as I can be
It's a lovely thing to be her beau
But all the same I'd like to know
If Sally's saving up a bit for me
I 'aven't popped the question
Or asked her to be mine
But Sally's such a darlin'
I'll have to toe the line
It may be any minute, heh-eh
I 'ope she'll say "I will"
But till I pluck me courage up
I'll keep on saving still
'Cause I'm saving up for Sally
I'm saving for a honeymoon
I've got to buy a ring
A mattress with a spring
There's one thing that I'll have to get
A nice new shiny bassinet
Oh, I'm not a lad to dally
Of Sally I'm as proud as I can be
But before I go to that expense
I'd like to know in self defence
If Sally's saving a up a bit for me
(He's saving up for Sally)
(Saving for a rainy day)
(He saves what he can spare)
(A penny here and there)
(And just to keep them off the rocks)
(He pops it in his moneybox)
I'm not a lad to dally
Of Sally I'm as proud as I can be
It's a lovely thing to be her beau
But all the same I'd like to know
If Sally's saving up a bit for me
(If Sally's saving up a bit for me)
