SERENADE
(Eldon Hawthorne / Marion Clay) (1946)
Serenade
Once you sang a lovely serenade
That thrilled my heart
To the heavens above.
Serenade
It seems that once you played
On the strings of my heart
When I was in love.
Then your music turned into a plaintive song
And my love was gone
The sunshine seemed to fade
My life was sad I could not go on.
Serenade
Bring back the happiness you once made
Fill my heart with song
A happy serenade.
