SHOULD I WAIT (OR SHOULD I RUN TO HER)
(Leon Carr / Paul Vance (m & l))
Johnny Mathis 1961
Should I wait, patiently
Hoping she’ll come back to me
Or should I run, with heart in hand
To her.
Should I dream, constantly
Afraid to face reality
Or should I run, with heart in hand
To her.
I feel so lost without her
Why did I let her go
I thought I could do without her
How could I know, I’d miss her so.
Wish I knew, wish I knew
I don’t know what I should do
Should I wait or should I run
To her.
Wish I knew, wish I knew
I don’t know what I should do
Should I wait or should I run
To her…
Should I wait or should I run
To her.
NOTES:
Johnny Mathis has sold over 350 million records
confirmed by Guinness World
Records and was the undisputed king of the romantic
Fifties ‘make out ‘ music.
Interestingly, his Greatest Hits albums (3) starting
in 1958 of which these lyrics are part, were the
beginning of a trend copied by every record company to
this day (Greatest Hits). The first album of this
collection still holds the distinction of being
the second longest charting album in the history of
Billboard (490 weeks).
