SNAKES, SNAILS AND PUPPYDOGS' TAILS
Alma Cogan - 1964
I wanted you to love me
Had to know what was on your mind
I went to a gypsy woman
Just to help this heart of mine
She bent down in a corner
She said, “I know what to do
I mixed it up this mornin'
I must have been expectin' you”
It’s made of snakes, snails
And puppydogs' tails
Things that you don’t know
It’s made of old wine, turpentine
Rat’s blood, taste good
Mix it up and then I stir it slow
I wanted you to love me
Had to hear you say it too
I went to a gypsy woman
And asked her what to do
She gave me some love potion
Said to put it in your tea
I saw your face go red and hot
Then watched it turn in on me
It’s made of snakes, snails
Puppydogs' tails
Things that you don’t know
It’s made of old wine, turpentine
Rat’s blood, taste good
Mix it up and then I stir it slow
I wanted you to love me
So I did what the gypsy said
When I woke up this morning
I saw you lying in bed
I went back to the gypsy
Asked what did she do
She said, “I’m sorry, honey
But I have to have my fun too”
It’s made of snakes, snails
Puppydogs' tails
Things that you don’t know
It’s made of old wine, turpentine
Rat’s blood taste good
Mix it up and then I stir it slow
I wanted you to love me
I wanted you to love me
I wanted you to love me
I wanted you to love me
I wanted...........FADE
