SOMEDAY WE'LL MEET AGAIN
(Al Goodhart / Al Hoffman / Milton Ager (m & l) )
As sung by Bing Crosby < Sweet Georgia Brown (1932-1933) >
Album released May 2012
The parting hour is here
And I must leave you dear
My heart for evermore
Will hold a song.
So hold me close to you
And kiss me fond adieu
We'll just say au revoir
But not goodbye.
Some day I know we'll meet again
We'll meet again, my darling
Though I don't know just where or when
We'll meet again, my darling.
I leave my heart to remind you
Though now we part
Some day my love will find you.
Some day when Spring is sweet again
We'll meet again, sweetheart.
(bridge)
I leave my heart to remind you
Though now we part
Some day my love will find you.
Some day when Spring is sweet again
We'll meet again, sweetheart.
Notes:
The two composers (Goodhart, an American and Hoffman, a Russian born
American) wrote music together for stage and film. Hoffman's popular
works were recorded by some of the big names of the day, Sinatra,
Eckstine, Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Kitt, Patsy Cline et
al.
Milton Ager, as one of the co-composers here, was Chicago USA born and
was involved in a number of Broadway musicals. He wrote many songs, his
first and biggest hit being I'M NOBODY'S BABY. Other works
were AIN'T SHE SWEET? and HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN.
Bing Crosby, perhaps unbeknownst to some, wrote or co-wrote 17 songs.
Many feel that the most notable of his creations was
(I DON'T STAND) A GHOST OF A CHANCE WITH YOU
His contributions to music, film and stage were immeasurable by any
standard.
