STAYIN' HOME WOMAN
(Earl Montgomery)
as recorded by Tammy Wynette
I spend half the day cookin'
But I wind up havin' dinner all alone,
Because he stopped off with some friends to see
Just how much they could drink on their way home!
By the time he makes it home
The food is just about as cold as I am,
And his stayin' home woman's
Gettin' tired of her stayin' out man!
He oughta be a Texas rancher,
'Cause he sure spreads a lot of bull around,
Tellin' how he won the war, he made
The others finally laid all their weapons down!
But there won't be a big parade tonight
When hero comes marchin' home again,
And his stayin' home woman's
Gettin' tired of her stayin' out man!
He's the type of man that likes to brag,
And boast about what little that he's done,
While he's drinkin'!
While he's out with old friends, laughin' it up and havin' fun,
What is he thinkin'?
I know that another woman
Ain't about to ever cross his mind,
'Cause when it comes to lovin',
He's comin' home to mine!
Well the lawn sure needs a cuttin'
And the hedges need to be trimmed by the walk,
But each time I mention work to him
He gives me dirty looks and double talk!
It's a shame to know the one you love
Won't hardly even lend a helpin' hand,
And his stayin' home woman's
Gettin' tired of her stayin' out man!
And his stayin' home woman's
Gettin' tired of her stayin' out man!
