SUNSHINE
(Tash Howard / Sandy Alpert)
as recorded by Francoise Hardy
1970
I remember how it was;
We'd walk along the beach
Each sunny day.
We held each other's hand
As we dreamed of our plans
For a home someday.
We'd listen to the ocean roar
From inside every shell,
Well, we had fun!
Digging round for clams,
Using just our hands,
Sometimes finding one!
Sunshine, I love you,
I always will!
Can I be faithful until
We're together once again,
Someday?
He once packed a basket for our lunch
And the punch ran out the jar,
Got the chicken soaking wet,
Got himself all upset,
Till I kissed away the harm!
I would splash the water in his face,
Oh then he'd chase me for a while.
Suddenly I'd kinda flop,
Waiting till he'd pick me up
And we'd start to smile!
Sunshine, I love you,
I always will!
Can I be faithful until
We're together once again,
Someday?
But summer days must come and go,
And though we wish it so,
Time won't wait for sighs.
So summer left and so did we;
We turned our backs to the sea
And said our sad goodbyes.
Winter seemed so long and cold;
I watched the hours grow old
And I think of you!
Sunshine, you're in my heart
All the time we are apart,
Hope you thinking too!
Sunshine, I love you,
I always will!
Can I be faithful until
We're together once again,
Someday?
Sunshine, I love you,
I always will!
Can I be faithful until
We're together once again,
Someday?
