THE ALLIGATOR POND WENT DRY

Folks, I'm telling you something that I saw with my own eyes, 
As I passed the pond one day; 
The old alligator was teaching his babies to do the Georgia Grind, 
And I heard one of them say: 
"This is a social, 
But the alligator pond's going dry, 
Yes, it is a social, 
But the alligator pond's going dry!" 
Now, old Mister Alligator, he got way back, 
He said, "Look out, children, I'm going to throw it off my back," 
Oh, it was a social, 
But the alligator pond went dry! 
Lord, it must have been a social, 
For the alligator pond went dry, 
Oh, it must have been a social 
For the alligator pond to go dry! 
Now, old Mister Alligator, he got real hot, 
He said, "We're gonna have this function whether there's water or 
not!" 
Oh, it was a social, 
For the alligator pond went dry! 
Lord, if you don't believe what I'm saying, ask old Alligator Jack, 
Wasn't a drop of water in the pond when he got back; 
It was a social, 
But the alligator pond went dry!
