THELMA
>From "Through The Looking Glass" (1916)
(Dick B. Brüün)
Where the waves dash in spray on the coast
far away In Norway, my home by the sea
A girl, sweet and fair, waits fondly there
Her love is all plighted to me
It has been just a year since my ship left the pier
Cross the water her face still I see
In this new land of home to night I'm alone
Once more I long to be
Where Thelma waits for me, in Norway by the sea
Where the northern lights are beaming, her golden hair is gleaming
Oh, God, keep vigil o'er this girl whom I adore
Who is waiting patiently for me, in Norway by the sea
In Norway by the sea
There's a lure in that land of the north, it is grand
Land of the midnight sun clear
Its great mountain peaks where all nature speaks
A language to me so dear
Tho' there's ice and there's snow
a warm welcoming glow greets you there where-ever you go
And tho' years I may stay in this land far away
Always I'll yearn to be
Where Thelma waits for me, in Norway by the sea
Where the northern lights are beaming, her golden hair is gleaming
Oh, God, keep vigil o'er this girl whom I adore
Who is waiting patiently for me, in Norway by the sea
In Norway by the sea
